Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain small-sized and low-costed reflection type enlarging and projecting device which has excellent quality of display by specifying a distance between the liquid crystal layer of a transmission type liquid crystal cell and the reflecting film of a Fresnel lens. CONSTITUTION:The distance between the liquid crystal layer 2 of the transmission type liquid crystal cell 1 and the reflecting film 7 of the Fresnel lens 8 is set <=1.5mm. Namely, supposing that thicknesses of a lower substrate 4, a lower polarization plate 6 and the Fresnel lens 8 are t1-t3 respectively, the lower substrate 4, the lower polarization plate 6 or the Fresnel lens 8 are formed in thin type so that the thickness of t1+t2+t3 is <=1.5mm. By forming them in the thin type, the shift of image or the blurring of image is not caused in the reflected enlarged and projected image, which can not be regarded as important in a practical use even if it is caused. Thus, the device can be applied as the reflection type projecting device without troubles and the small-sized portable compact device in which contrast is high can be obtained.
