Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform recording at high speed and thereby prevent deterioration of an electrode or a dielectric member by discharging ions in the development direction of a creeping corona discharge, and charging a dielectric layer of a recording body positioned in the development direction with the ions. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 1 is arranged in a position where a dielectric layer 7 of a recording body 6 is present in the development direction of a creeping corona discharge from the first electrodes 2, 2.... An alternating current voltage is applied between the first electrodes 2, 2... and the second electrode 4 of the recording head 1 by an alternating current voltage 5 according to image information. When the value of this alternating current voltage is higher than a prearranged value, a creeping corona discharge R generates in a spatial area G formed by the tip parts 2a, 2a... of the first electrodes 2, 2... and the surface of a fixed dielectric substrate 3. At that time, the first electrodes 2, 2... work as discharge electrodes, and the second electrode 4 works as an auxiliary electrode. Therefore, ions are efficiently discharged into the direction of the recording body 6 by means of the creeping corona discharge R. Thus ions can efficiently be extracted.
