Abstract

PURPOSE:To control accurate service life by individually counting frequency that plural units form images in response to the result that an identification number outputted from the loaded unit is judged and judging the service life of the loaded unit when the counted value reaches the prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:If the identification number from the loaded developing device 18 coincides with a one stored in the memory area 122b of a memory circuit 122 when a paper source switch is turned on, a control circuit 120 judges that a currently loaded developing device is the developing device 18 which was loaded before the power source is turned on. Then the control circuit 122 replaces contents stored in the memory area 122b of the memory circuit 122 with those stored in its memory area 122a. According to contents stored in the memory area 122a of the memory circuit 122 and regarding the previous developing device 18, the control circuit 120 controls the counted value of usage and performs concentration controlling actions. Thus the service life of plural developing devices can be controlled.
