Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a smooth film of high abrasion resistance and of improved uniformity of gloss, by radiating ionizing radiation onto a painted surface after making smooth the painted surface, still in a soft state, composed of a radiation curable resin paint provided on one surface of a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A paint layer 2 composed of a radiation curable resin paint is formed over at least a portion of the surface of a substrate 1. While said layer 2 is still soft, for example, a releasing film 3 with a smooth surface is superposed on said layer 2, causing an uneven portion 4 present in said layer 2 to be eliminated, resulting in forming a flat surface. Thereafter, said layer 2 in a state as mentioned above is hardened by irradiating ionizing radiation (arrow mark) thereon and then the releasing film 3 is peeled off. As a result, a smooth paint film which has uniform gloss as well as high abrasion resistance is formed on the substrate 1, where the substrate 1 is a synthetic resin film, sheet, molding etc.
