Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the range of controllable temperatures of the hot air for drying printed paper which is fed to a drying machine in which the hot air in a hot air circuit is heated by means of the high-temperature air in a cleaning path and a heater such as a burner etc., and is blown into a drying room, by operating the drying machine such that, for low- temperature drying, the cleaning path is worked and the heater in the hot air circuit is not worked. CONSTITUTION:A drying machine comprising a hot air circuit which serves to feed hot air, which has dried a printed paper P after being blown from nozzles 5, to the nozzles 5 again through a heat exchanger 9 and a heater 14, and a cleaning path which serves to discharge part of the hot air, which has dried the printed paper P, into the atmosphere through an air cleaner 21 having a heater 22 and an oxidation catalyst 23 and through a radiating path in the heat exchanger 9. In the case of high-temperature drying, the hot air circulating through the hot air air circuit is heated by means of both the heater 14 and the heat exchanger 9, i.e., the high-temperature air in the purifying path, thereby to raise the temperature of the hot air blowing from the nozzles 5 to about 180-280 deg.C. In the case of low-temperature drying, the heater 14 is kept unfired and the hot air circulating through the hot air circuit is heated only by the heat exchanger 9, i.e., by the high-temperature air in the cleaning path, thereby to raise the temperature of the hot air blowing from the nozzles 5 to about 100-180 deg.C.
