Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the sticking of glass to a discharge outlet and the deposition of crystals and to stably obtain homogeneous glass contg. no crystals by melting a starting material mixture for glass by heating in a melting tank and by feeding the resulting melt to a prescribed molding apparatus from the discharge outlet made of a specified Pt-Au alloy. CONSTITUTION:A starting material mixture for glass having an especially great crystallization tendency and requiring rapid cooling is melted by heating in a melting tank. The resulting melt is discharged from a discharge outlet made of a Pt-Au alloy contg. 2-15wt.% Au and fitted to the melting tank or a molding tank placed in communication with the molding tank. The discharged melt is fed to a prescribed molding apparatus and molded.
