Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase luminance in accordance with display duty and to reduce the dispersion of display luminance or flickering among respective columns by changing the pulse width of dynamic driving scanning pulses of a display device in each column and equalizing the width of scanning pulses applied to respective columns between two periods of commercial power supply.
CONSTITUTION: The pulse width of column scanners K1 to K4 of respective display devices 1a to 1d to be driven by a dynamic scanning system is variably changed in each column and the total of the pulse width of scanning pulses applied to respective columns in one scanning period or a period proportional to one period is made equal in all columns. Even when the scanning pulse width is changed by the influence of accuracy of the oscillation frequency of a clock circuit 3 for a microcomputer 2, duty exerting influence upon display luminance is increased to its maximum so as not to generate flickering.
