Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the misretrieving cases even in case a user designates an incomplete key word by using a means which associates the key word related to an information retrieving system from the key word designated by the user. CONSTITUTION:The key word designated by a user is obtained via a key word input part 18 and stored in a key word memory part 13. Then the rule group stored in a key word related rule memory part 10 is inferred by a key word associating part 8 for calculation of the assurance of the key word. The result of this calculation is reflected on the part 13. Then the rule group stored in a key word/subject rule memory part 11 is inferred by a key word retrieving part 9 for calculation of the assurance of the retrieving subject. The result of this calculation is reflected on a retrieving result memory part 14. The part 9 performs the retrieving operation as long as the retrieving subject exceeds the prescribed threshold value and displays the retrieving result at a retrieving result display part 19. While the part 9 urges the additional designation if the retrieving subject does not exceed said threshold value.
