Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain high-speed partial data writing even when the data length is shorter than an error correcting code forming unit, by including a parity checking code in error correction codes of each word. CONSTITUTION:At the time of receiving a write request signal WTO consisting of bytes '0' shorter than the error correction code forming unit, a signal 300 from a writing register 10, a signal 302 from an error correction code generating circuit 20, a signal 305 whose partial writing flag shows '1' are respectively written in storage devices 30, 33. In case of reading out data from respective storage devices 30, 33, reading data 400-403 are inputted to an error detecting circuit 50 and error detection corresponding to the number of error bits can be executed. Namely, a parity check bit can be omitted by including a parity check signal of each byte in error correction codes of each word, so that high- speed partial writing processing can be attained by the small number of inspection bits and the cost of the whole system can be reduced.
