Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable accurate and reproducible measurement, by getting an oxidizing/reducing enzyme contained in a water absorbing high polymer layer formed on an electrode section and a porous body containing an electron acceptor separately. CONSTITUTION:A conducting carbon paste is printed on an insulating substrate 12 made of polyethylene terephthalate by screen printing to form a conductive layer. After the layer is dried, likewise, an insulating resin paste is printed and dried to form an insulating layer 15, a measuring pole 13 and an opposed pole 14 both having a fixed area. Then, a 0.5% aqueous solution of carboxy methylcellulose is applied directly on an electrode with the measuring pole 13 and the opposed pole 14 and then, 5mul of a 20tau/ml phosphoric acid buffer (pH5.6) solution of glucose oxidase as oxidizing/reducing enzyme is applied and dried to form a water absorbing high polymer layer 16. Then, a filter film 18, a porous body 19 containing an electron acceptor and a holding frame 20 are fixed closely with a sticky structural body 17 to form a glucose sensor. The use of such a glucose sensor enables accurate and reproducible measurement.
