Abstract
PURPOSE:To expand the versatility of a length measuring instrument by switching measurement pressure stepwise according to the material of a body to be measured or its surface state, etc. CONSTITUTION:When a motor 5 is driven, a worm device moves a belt 7 and a measurement pressure governor holder 8 fitted to the belt 7 moves down. A moving member 10 is engaged loosely with the guide rod 9 of the holder 8, so the moving member 10 also moves down while carried by a lower pressure measuring spring following up the downward movement of the holder, namely, a spindle 11 moves down. Then while a measuring element 11a atop of the spindle contacts the surface of the body to be measured, the spindle 11 moves down and stops, but a motor switch is on, so the holder 8 is lowered continuously. A relative position detector 14 is provided between the holder 8 and moving member 10, so the holder 8 moves down unit a set relative position is detected and the motor 5 stops with its detection signal when the holder reaches a set position.
