Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a cermet alloy having excellent wear resistance, strength and chipping resistance by specifying the compsn. consisting of a hard phase of double carbonitrides of groups 4a, 5a, 6a and an Fe group metal bond phase and forming the hard phase into a double cored structure. CONSTITUTION:The cermet alloy is constituted of 50-95wt.% hard phase consisting of the double carbonitrides of the groups 4a, 5a, 6a of periodic table and the balance the bond phase consisting of the Fe group metals and unavoidable impurities. The above-mentioned double carbonitride of this cermet alloy is formed to have the double cores structure. Furthermore, the double cored structure is made into the structure compsn. in which the double carbonitride relatively lean with Ti and rich with W is enclosed by the double carbonitride relatively rich with Ti and lean with W. The double carbonitride having such double cored structure is made to exist in the alloy at >=70% of the total double carbonitride. The cermet alloy which is excellent in the wear resistance and strength at high temp. and in the chipping resistance and is adequate for long- life high-speed cutting tools, etc. is thereby obtd.
