Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent image forming out of a range and to obtain a drawing of an appropriate size by one operation, by a method wherein, an optimum magnification is calculated by a maximum value judging part and an optimum magnification calculating part, and an enlarging/reducing magnification is determined referring to the optimum magnification. CONSTITUTION:In a maximum value judging part 2, input data 1 is read and a maximum value Ymax in the paper width direction is calculated to be stored. An optimum magnification calculating part 3 calculates an optimum magnification N1, which is the maximum within an effective imaging area W in the paper width direction, according to a formula (1) using the value Ymax and informs the result to a user input/output part 7. Where N=Wdivided by Ymax (1), a user selects an arbitrary enlarging/reducing magnification N referring to the informed optimum magnification N1 within a range meeting the requirement of a formula (2) and inputs the result to a magnification assignment part 4 through the user input/output part 7. An enlarging/reducing part 5 enlarges or reduces the input data 1 with the enlarging/reducing magnification N and outputs it as enlarged, reduced data 6, but N<=N1 (2). As a result, graphics of an appropriate size can be easily outputted.
