Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition of excellent adhesiveness, by mixing a deionized polyphenylene sulfide resin with an epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:A polyphenylene sulfide resin containing at least 70mol.% repeating units of the formula is immersed in an acid solution at a pH >=4 and 80-90 deg.C, water at 100 deg.C or above or an organic solvent (e.g., N- methylpyrrolidone) at room temperature - 300 deg.C and washed with water or warm water to obtain a deionized polyphenylene ether resin (A) of an Na content <=900ppm. 100pts.wt. total of 60-99.95wt.% component A and 40-0.05wt.% epoxy resin (B) is mixed with 10-300pts.wt. fibrous and/or particulate reinforcements (C) (e.g., glass fiber), and the resulting mixture is melt-kneaded at 280-340 deg.C.
