Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve reduction of friction between relative movement members, by a method wherein an amorphous material is coated on the contact surface of the one first relative movement member to form an amorphous layer, and the other second relative movement material member is formed by a ceramic material. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous material, e.g. tantalum, is coated on the outer surface of a crank shaft 32 being the one first relative movement member to form an amorphous layer 35. A plain bearing 34 situated to the large end part of a connecting rod 33 being the other second relative movement member is formed by a ceramic material, e.g. partially stabilized zirconia. Therefore, by achievement of reduction of friction, seizure and the like is prevented from occurring even in an excessive slide or rotation state, lubricating oil having low viscosity is usable, and reduction of friction between two slide members can be achieved. The amorphous layer is not crystal structure, e.g. a metal, a crystal is prevented from melting and a change even by local contact between materials during slide, and seizure is prevented from occurring even in an excessive slide or rotation state.
