Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an arrangement for plain bearing, in which effective width of the slide surface is changed with the magnitude of load acted to the bearing for connecting rod, and clearance between the bearing and the shaft at the central crown portions substantially in a semicirclar form is made different from that at opposite end portions, whereby it is enabled to reduce frictional loss of the bearing.
CONSTITUTION: Effective width L1 at areas A1, A2 where load acted to plain bearings 5a, 5b is high is made larger, whereas that L2 at other areas where the load is low is made smaller. Assuming here that sliding direction of the bearing is in the direction of arrow shown in the drawing, there is a tendency that shortage of lubricating oil is caused at points A. In order to overcome the above difficulty, clearance C2 between shaft 4 and the split bearing in the direction of low load is made 16W80μm larger than that C1 in the direction of high load. By thus increasing the clearance, oil film is formed and direct contact between metals can be avoided.
