Abstract
PURPOSE:To speedily and accurately inspect the characteristics of wheels by performing the inspection while clamping the wheels by rollers from both sides. CONSTITUTION:A wheel inspection system 1 has wheel inspecting devices 10 (10fr, 10fi, 10br, and 10bi) arranged on its frame. Therefore, when a four-wheel vehicle to be inspected is placed at a specific position in the system, the wheels W are positioned at the corresponding devices 10. The devices 10 have inside and outside roller assemblies 16 and 17, which are provided with tow angle detection rollers 20ti and 20ti, tow angle detection rollers 20to and 2020, and a camber angle detection roller 20c. Then the assemblies 16 and 17 are put close to each other and then the rollers 20ti and 20c contact both sides of the wheels W, which are clamped. In this state, the angle to a reference line G is detected to detect the tow angles of the wheels W. Further, when the roller 20to contacts the outside sideface of the wheel W, the roller 20 also contacts the outside sideface of the wheel W, whose camber angle is detected.
