PURPOSE:To inhibit generation of transfer unevenness and to obtain a distinct transfer image by using a hard paper base having an elastic modulus of compression >=a specified value for a base to be used for a photosensitive material and an image receiving material. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive material comprising silver halide and a polymerizable compd. encapsulated in microcapsules, or a photosensitive material comprising a photopolymerizable compsn. or a photopolymerizable compd. encapsulated in microcapsules, is superposed on an image receiving material, and pressed. Thus, unpolymerized polymerizable compd. or photopolymerizable compsn., or photopolymerizable compd. is transferred to an image receiving material. Further, the elastic modulus of compression of each paper base for the photosensitive material and the image receiving material is regulated to >=10<3>kgf/cm<2>. By this method, the transfer unevenness is improved and a press- transfer device is made light weight and inexpensive.
