There are three main types of thermal transfer recording methods: thermal melting type and thermal transfer type. Among these, in the thermal transfer recording method, a dye-providing material having a dye-donating layer containing a binder and a heat-transferable dye is prepared on a support, and this dye-providing material is applied to a recording medium (image-receiving material). The layers are stacked so that they are in contact with each other, and heat is applied imagewise (in a pattern) from the support side of the dye-providing material to melt and soften the binder in the heat-applied area, and the binder melts according to the heat-applied pattern. A method is used in which a transferred image is obtained by transferring a heat-transferable dye from a portion to an image-receiving material. A typical example of the heat-transferable dye used here is a sublimable dye. This sublimable dye causes sublimation or diffusion in the medium by heating, and moves from the dye-providing material to the recording medium (image-receiving material).

The method disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 1498 uses a recording material in which a sublimable dye is encapsulated in microcapsules, and by introducing the microcapsules, the sublimable dye corresponding to the heated area can be more controlled. It is said that clear images can be obtained because the particles are transferred to the image-receiving material in the same state.

Using the M recording material, there were disadvantages in that multiple treatments were required, the recording speed was slow due to the writing of information by heat, and it took a lot of time to obtain a desired colored image.

At the same time, by heating the entire surface, the sublimable dye present in the uncured portion can be sublimated, and a colored image of the dye can be formed on the image-receiving material. That is, according to the present invention, the sublimable dye can be transferred from the recording material to the image receiving material in a short time by heating the entire surface of the recording material after the formation of a polymer image. Compared to the conventional method of obtaining an image of dye by sequentially transferring it to the medium, image formation can be performed quickly.

る。[Detailed Description of the Invention] The recording material used in the present invention has a recording layer in which a large number of microcapsules containing a polymerizable compound and a sublimable dye are arranged in a dispersed manner. In addition to a polymerizable compound and a sublimable dye, the microcapsules constituting the recording layer of the recording material of the present invention contain energy (light energy, electron beam energy, etc.) applied imagewise to cause a curing reaction of the polymerizable compound. It is necessary to coexist with a useful polymerization accelerator (eg, a photopolymerization initiator, a combination of silver halide and a reducing agent) so that the polymer can be used efficiently.

9-15), and the same magazine Vol. 1.176, December 1978, No. 17643 (pages 22-31). Furthermore, as in the photosensitive material described in JP-A No. 62-210446, a reducing agent precursor capable of releasing the reducing agent under heating conditions or in contact with a base is used in place of the reducing agent. Good too. The reducing agents and reducing agent precursors described in the above-mentioned publications, specifications, and literature can also be effectively used in the recording material used in this specification. Therefore, the term "r-reducing agent" in this specification includes the reducing agents and reducing agent precursors described in each of the above-mentioned publications, specifications, and literatures. These reducing agents may be used alone, but as described in each of the above specifications, two or more types of reducing agents may be used in combination. When two or more types of reducing agents are used together, the interaction of the reducing agents is, first, to promote the reduction of silver halide (and/or organic silver salt) through so-called superadditivity; , causing polymerization of the polymerizable compound via a redox reaction with other reducing agents coexisting with an oxidized form of the first reducing agent generated by reduction of silver halide (and/or organic silver salt); (or suppressing polymerization), etc. However, in actual use, the reactions 0 as described above may occur simultaneously, so it is difficult to specify which effect is responsible.

That is, when heated to a temperature of 80° C. or higher, the organic silver salt is considered to participate in an oxidation-reduction reaction using the latent image of silver halide as a catalyst. In this case, the silver halide and the organic silver salt are preferably in contact or in close proximity. Examples of the organic compound constituting the organic silver salt include aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acids, thiocarbonyl group-containing compounds having a mercapto group or α-hydrogen, and imino group-containing compounds. Among them, benzotriazole is particularly preferred. The above organic silver salt is generally 0.01 to 10 mol, preferably 0.01 mol per mol of silver halide.
It is used in a range of 1 mole to 1 mole. Note that the same effect can be obtained by adding an organic compound (for example, benzotriazole) constituting the organic silver salt to the recording layer instead of the organic silver salt. For photosensitive materials using organic silver salts, see JP-A-62-
There is a description in Publication No. 3246. The organic silver salt as described above is preferably used in an amount of 0.1 to 10 mol, more preferably 0.01 to 1 mol, per mol of silver halide.

特徴とする画像形成方法。[Scope of Claims] 1. An energy imparting portion by imagewise imparting energy to the recording layer of a recording material having a recording layer formed by dispersing a large number of microcapsules containing a polymerizable compound and a sublimable dye. The polymerizable compound in the microcapsules is cured, and then, by heating the recording material with the image receiving material superimposed on the recording material, the sublimable dye is sublimated and transferred from the uncured capsules onto the image receiving material, thereby forming a colored image. An image forming method characterized by forming an image. 2. Light is irradiated imagewise onto the recording layer of a recording material having a recording layer in which a large number of microcapsules containing a polymerizable compound, a sublimable dye, and a photopolymerization initiator are dispersed, and the microcapsules in the light-irradiated area are By curing the polymerizable compound therein and then heating the recording material with the image receiving material superimposed on it, the sublimable dye is sublimated and transferred from the uncured capsule onto the image receiving material to form a colored image. An image forming method characterized by: 3. Imagewise irradiation of light onto the recording layer of a recording material having a recording layer in which a large number of microcapsules containing a polymerizable compound, silver halide, a reducing agent, and a sublimable dye are dispersed, and at the same time or Thereafter, heat development is performed to harden the polymerizable compound in the microcapsules in the light irradiated area, and then, by heating the recording material with the image receiving material superimposed on it, the sublimable dye is transferred from the uncured capsules to the image receiving material. An image forming method characterized by forming a colored image by sublimating upward.
