Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a foldover noise in a subscan direction, by setting the diamater of a light in the subscan direction at a value exceeding a range of unifold and within double of a sampling pitch in the subscan direction. CONSTITUTION:A beam diameter adjusting optical system 21 is adjusted so that the diameter of a laser beam L in the subscan direction can be set larger than that of a scanning line interval (d) (sampling pitch) and within the two-fold. Assuming a ratio (alpha) that is the ratio in which beam width DL protrudes from the sampling pitch (d) as (alpha)=0.5, an amplitude value goes to a value 0 at the 1/2 of a sampling angular frequency 2pi/d, that is, pi/d, and even in a frequency component with the value more than that, a foldover noise part N is sufficiently attenuated.
