Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture an alloy for semi-hard magnetic material having superior characteristics at a low cost, by subjecting a powder mixture consisting of an Fe-base alloy powder with a specific composition and a powder of oxide, nitride, or carbide to compacting and sintering by a hot pressing process. CONSTITUTION:An Fe-base alloy powder which has a composition represented by a general formula FeaMbCucBd [where M means at least one element among Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni and Si, the symbols (b), (c) and (d) stand for <20, 2-20, and 0.2-10, respectively, and a+b+c+d=100] and also has a structure in which microcrystalline grains of (Fe,M)3B and Cu are dispersed and a powder of at least one kind among oxides, carbides, and nitrides, such as SiO2, Al2O3, B2O3, SiC, and Si3N4, are mixed by mechanical alloying so as to be formed into a powder mixture. This power mixture is compacted and sintered by a hot pressing process, by which the high-strength alloy for semi-hard magnetic material in which oxides, nitrides, and carbides are contained as a dispersed phase in the base phase of the Fe-base alloy can be manufactured.
