Abstract

CONSTITUTION:Paste or the like contg. solid silicon is put near a body to be coated. It is heated in a reducing atmosphere of hydrogen or other gas contg. steam to form a coating film of silica-based glass on the body to be coated. The concn. of steam in the reducing atmosphere is desirably regulated so that the atmosphere has -30-25 deg.C dew point. Thus, a coating film free from cracks can be formed. This method is applicable to a heat and corrosion resistant insulated cable for communication or for a heater, a heat resistant reflecting mirror, etc.
