Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture long-size superconductive wires of oxide type having a high critical temp. by forming a cylindrical piece through joining while a metal tape is running, filling the cylindrical piece with powder which is partially an oxide type superconductor, and subjecting it to heating. CONSTITUTION:An oxide superconductor is crushed into powder C, which is put in a powder supply part 1. An Ag tape A is paid out from a roll 6a, inserted in a shaping machine 5, and run in the direction of arrow P. This metal tape A warps so that its two edges approach each other by and by, and when the tape goes out of the shaping machine 5, the two side edges are butted. These butted parts of the tape A are welded by a welder 6 to form a cylinder D, which is filled with the abovementioned powder C from a supply cylinder 3. The dia. of this cylinder D is shrunk to a certain degree by a die 7, and the cylinder is heated under the oxygen atmosphere of a heating machine 9. Through the walls oxygen is supplied into the Ag cylinder D having oxygen permeative property, and thus a desired superconductive wire B of oxide type is obtained.
