Abstract

CONSTITUTION:i) A solution of salt of quaternary ammonium base with a carboxylic acid, especially dicarboxylic acid formed by using <=1.0mol. carboxylic acid based on the quaternary ammonium base is made to anhydrous state in an organic polar solvent to remove an alkali ion as a carboxylic acid salt. After or before the process (i), ii) solution of the above-mentioned salt formed using >=0.95mol. above-mentioned acid based on the above-mentioned base is treated with a substance selected from a metal silver, silver oxide, silver carbonate and organic acid silver to remove a halogen ion and then the solution freed from halogen ion is treated with hydrogen halide to remove silver ion and the above-mentioned solution free from causing corrosion of a metal by halogen ion because of substantially containing no above-mentioned ion and useful as an electrolyte having high specific conductance is obtained at a low cost.
