Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate corrosion of metal due to halogen ions and to obtain an electrolytic capacitor which is stable even at high temperatures by forming electrolyte without substantially containing the halogen ion. CONSTITUTION:An electrode for driving an electrolytic capacitor contains solution A of quaternary ammonium base and salt of carboxylic acid, which does not substantially contain halogen ions. The solution A is formed by treating the solution of the quaternary ammonium base and salt (a) of the carboxylic acid with substance (b) selected from a group consisting of metallic silver, silver oxide, silver carbonate and organic acid silver. The salt (a) is that formed with 0.95 moles or more of carboxylic acid to the quaternary ammonium base. Thus, the metal is not corroded with the halogen ions, and an electrolytic capacitor which is stable even at high temperatures can be obtained.
