The present invention relates to an oil adsorbent, and more particularly to an oil adsorbent obtained by sizing phosphoric acid cellulose fibers using a synthetic polymer cation sizing agent. Recently, large-scale factory development is progressing, but when oil-containing wastewater from factories, business offices, etc. spills into rivers, or when collecting oil spilled from ships etc., synthetic resins (e.g. Non-woven fabric made from polypropylene is used. However, when oil adsorbents based on synthetic resins are incinerated after oil adsorption and recovery, they burn at the high temperatures characteristic of synthetic resins, causing severe damage to incinerators, etc., and retaining the adsorbed oil. There were problems such as low capacity and poor workability, and sufficient functionality could not be obtained. The present invention has been made focusing on the above points,
We discovered that by using phosphoric acid cellulose as a base material and sizing it with a synthetic polymer cation sizing agent, it is possible to obtain an oil adsorbent that is lightweight and has excellent oil adsorption and retention ability.
The present invention has now been completed. That is, the present invention is characterized in that phosphoric acid-based cellulose fibers are beaten, a synthetic polymer-based cation sizing agent is internally added thereto, and sizing is performed to form paper. The phosphoric acid-based cellulose fiber used in the present invention is obtained by beating and pulling fibers such as natural cellulose such as wood pulp and bast, its derivatives, or polyvinyl alcohol in an aqueous solution, and reacting it with urea and phosphoric acid. The resulting aqueous solution of ammonium polyphosphate is added to an esterification solution containing several percent of urea, and after being left for a predetermined period of time, this is squeezed and dried.
It was further heated to the esterification reaction temperature of ammonium polyphosphate (approximately 140°C), and after the reaction was cooled, washed with water, and dried. When obtaining phosphoric acid-based cellulose fibers, the reaction between cellulose and phosphoric acid is a solid-liquid contact reaction so as not to impair the strength of the pulp. Since the structure of cellulose is extremely complex, it is a heterogeneous reaction.
That is, cellulose is composed of a large number of micelles, and since these micelles are connected by chemical bonds, it is extremely difficult for liquid to penetrate inside the cellulose. Therefore, in these reactions, cellulose derivatives are obtained through a mechanism in which the reaction first occurs from the outside of the cellulose, then it penetrates into the amorphous region, and then penetrates into the interior through the gradual destruction of the crystalline region. In particular, the phosphoric acid-based cellulose fiber used in the present invention has strength properties as an oil adsorbent (i.e., it has a certain tensile strength that can withstand this because it is treated by hooking it with a hook etc. when recovering the block after oil adsorption). Since the maximum amount of reaction is required, it is desirable to perform the reaction as uniformly as possible, and it is important to swell the cellulose in advance and treat the micelles inside to facilitate reaction. In order to obtain the oil adsorbent of the present invention using such phosphoric acid-based cellulose fibers, the fibers are first defibrated using a beating machine to form a pulp slurry. The degree of freeness at this time is
For example, it is preferable to adjust it to 20 to 25°SR. Next, a synthetic polymer-based cationic sizing agent is internally added to this pulp slurry, but when an anionic sizing agent is used as the sizing agent, the water absorption of the resulting oil adsorbent becomes large, and the sizing agent Even if the amount of addition is increased, the water absorbency is not improved much and the bulk density also increases, which is uneconomical. Furthermore, even if a cationic sizing agent is used, if one with a low molecular weight is used, the oil resistance will be lowered and the oil-absorbed pine will easily disintegrate, so it will not be practical even if it shows good properties. Even with such polymeric cation sizing agents,
If the pulp is processed after papermaking, the density of the resulting oil adsorbent mat will be high and the oil absorption will be poor. Therefore, in the present invention, a cationic sizing agent is internally added to the pulp slurry, and then Make paper. By internally adding a synthetic polymer cation sizing agent in this manner, an oil adsorbent having a low bulk density and high oil absorption can be obtained. As the synthetic polymer cation sizing agent in the present invention, for example, "Polymaron" manufactured by Arakawa Forestry Co., Ltd.
A styrene resin-based material such as 360" can be used. In this case, the amount added to the pulp should be an absolute dry ratio of 10
% or more, and more preferably 15% or more, better results can be obtained. Although it is not necessary to add polyvalent metal salts such as aluminum sulfate during sizing, in order to fix the synthetic polymer cationic sizing agent to the surface of the phosphoric acid cellulose fibers in the present invention, it is necessary to adjust the pH of the slurry. It is desirable to adjust the value to between 4.5 and 5.0. Of course, the PH value may be adjusted within the above range in the presence of a polyvalent metal salt. The pulp slurry of cellulose phosphoric acid fibers with the synthetic polymer cation sizing agent fixed on the surface is formed into a mat shape using a paper machine, dehydrated by suction dehydration, dried, and heated to form fibers. The oil adsorbent of the present invention can be obtained by strongly bonding with the sizing agent. Press dewatering during this process is not preferable because it increases the bulk density, and it is preferable to dehydrate by vacuum suction. Example 1 As phosphoric acid-based cellulose fiber, 20 kg of phosphoric acid esterified cellulose fiber pulp obtained by reacting wood pulp with ammonium polyphosphate was put into a beating machine and defibrated to a beating degree of 20 to 25°SR. It was made into a pulp slurry of 2.5g/. Add 0.5 to 1.0% of the above-mentioned "Polymaron 360" as a synthetic polymer cation sizing agent to this slurry.
Dilute the liquid so that the pulp bone dry ratio is 20%
It was added so that Then 10% aluminum sulfate
After adding the aqueous solution so that the pulp bone dry ratio was 5% and adjusting the pH to 4.5 to 5.0, stirring was continued for 15 minutes to fix the solution. The pulp slurry thus obtained is adjusted to a papermaking humidity of approximately 1% in a wet forming tank, then a specified mat is formed using a wet forming machine, and the paper is suction dehydrated to a wet paper moisture content of approximately 65 to 75%. An oil adsorbent was obtained by drying. The physical properties of the oil adsorbent thus obtained are shown in Table 1 in comparison with conventional products.

[Table] The results in Table 2 show that the use of phosphate-based cellulose fibers significantly increases the amount of oil adsorption compared to the use of non-phosphorylated wood pulp; Although it has an excellent sizing effect, it has no effect on phosphate-based cellulose fibers, and has extremely high water absorption, making it unsuitable as an oil adsorbent for collecting oil spilled on water. Recognize. Furthermore, it can be seen that the oil adsorbent using a paraffin wax sizing agent has a low water absorption amount and a considerably large oil adsorption amount, but has poor oil resistance. As mentioned above, the effects of the oil adsorbent of the present invention are listed as follows: 1. Since it is a natural fiber, it is non-toxic and does not cause secondary pollution to marine products. Additionally, there is no generation of high heat or harmful gases when incinerated. 2.It has excellent oil adsorption performance and shows revolutionary performance compared to conventional adsorbents. 3. Adsorbs oil at an instantaneous rate, and adsorption of water is minimal. 4.Does not dissolve in aromatic oils and does not form fragments. 5 Demonstrates outstanding oil retention ability, and unlike other materials, there is no need to worry about settling. becomes. Therefore, it can be suitably used for adsorbing floating oil in factory wastewater, adsorbing oil spilled due to accidents, etc., and preventing oil from spreading into the ocean, ports, rivers, etc. Since the present invention is as described above, it is possible to provide an oil adsorbent that is lightweight, has excellent oil adsorption and retention ability, and is non-polluting.
