Abstract
PURPOSE:To retard generation of propionic acid by generating methane from org. acids obtd. by treating waste water in an acid fermentation reactor and introducing into a methane fermentation reactor, and returning and circulating a specified amt. of discharged treated water. CONSTITUTION:Waste water to be treated is stored in a waste water tank 5, and fed continuously with a waste water pump 7 to a mixer 4, and mixed with returned water fed from a circulating pipe 17. Then, pH of the mixed water is measured with a pH indicating controller 10, and the pH is adjusted by adding 10-20% aq. NaOH in an alkali tank 6 through an alkali feed pipe 18 with an alkali pump 9 driven interlockingly with the pH indicating controller 10 so as to obtain a specified pH. The waste water is then treated after introducing it into the acid fermentation reactor 1 by the head of the waste water. The circulation is performed with a circulating pump 8 through a surge tank 3, and preferred amt. of the circulated waste water is 0.5-30 times basing on the amt. of the waste water to be treated.
