Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress fog and to reduce deterioration of sensitivity by developing a silver halide photographic sensitive material in the presence of a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide photographic sensitive material having a silver halide emulsion layer is developed in the presence of at least one of the compounds represented by the formula shown on the right in which M is H, an alkali metal or the like; Ar is an aromatic bonding group; each of R' and R'' is H or an alkyl group; X is a divalent bonding group having C, N, or the like; A is alkylene or alkenylene; B is amino, ammonium, or an N- containing hetero ring; p is 0-3; each of l and m is 0 or 1; and n is 1 or 2, thus permitting development fog to be effectively suppressed, while reducing drop of sensitivity.
