Abstract
PURPOSE:To finely crystallize a carbide so that the finer casting structure is formed by incorporating a specific ratio of Ca alone or in combination with Al into a high-speed tool steel having a specific compsn. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of the high-speed tool steel is constituted, by weight, of 0.5-1.5% C, 0.1-1% Si, 0.1-1% Mn, 3-7% Cr, <=12% W (including non-addition), 2-12% Mo (where 5-25% W+2Mo), 0.6-5% V, 0.01-0.2% Ca alone or in combination with 0.02-0.2% Al, and the balance Fe and ordinary impurities. The impurities are confined to <=0.01% N, <=0.004% S, and <=40ppm O. Further, 0.02-0.2% of >=1 kinds among La, Ce, Y, and Nb and 1-20% Co are incorporated therein. The enriched hard carbide is finely dispersed by this compsn., by which the machinability, wear resistance and seizure resistance are improved. In addition, the finer casting structure on the outside circumferential side is formed to improve chipping resistance and to extend the tool life.
