Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the relative positional error between a servo head and a data head due to the temperature rise of a device and the change of environmental temperature by providing a slit at the vicinity of the fixing part of a head assembly of a beam attaching a shielding plate. CONSTITUTION:The head assembly consisting of plural sliders 4 and a plate- shaped spring 2 is attached to the tip end of a supporting arm 1. Besides, the electromagnetic shielding plate 3 is installed on the beam 5 to connect the fixing part of the head assembly so as to surround the servo head. Then, the beam 5 is provided with the slit 14 along the longitudinal direction of the supporting arm 1 at the vicinity of the fixing part of the head assembly. Thus, influence due to the thermal expansion of the shielding plate 3 different from the material of the arm 1 in a linear expansion coefficient can be suppressed to be minimum, and the relative positional error between the servo head and the data head due to the temperature rise of the device or the change of the environmental temperature can be made smaller.
