Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately effect an automatic attachment of a label to a container cooled or immediately after washing by inclining the label retained by a retaining arm to first engage the side of the label not retained with the upper end of a container and rotatably moving the label along the outer periphery of the container for its attachment to a predetermined position of the container. CONSTITUTION:A suction box 13 of a retaining arm movable by the rotational movement of a hollow shaft attracts a label La upon passing of a label receiving portion. The suction box 13 moves while rotating in such manner as to bring its center of gravity directly below the retaining arm. Furthermore, upon contact of a projecting portion 18 with a pin 19 by the rotational movement of the hollow shaft, the suction box 13 rotates clockwise together with the retaining arm to bring the label La in a slant position. Upon energizing of step motors 30-32, a push-in member 26 extends arms 27 and 28 and, at the same time, moves a push-in member 29 counter clockwise, thereby pushing the upper end of the label La in such manner as to first engage its unattracted side with a container. The container Ve is then moved by a shifting means 34 to the left side, where the push-in member 29 forces down the label La on the container Ve from directly above for a complete attachment thereto.
