Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable complete automation of a bar feed device, by a method wherein, through comparison of a signal from a displacement detecting mean with a set value signal, an amount of bars conveyed is calculated, and a calculation conveyance amount signal is outputted to an external bar machining device. CONSTITUTION:A bar 14 grasped by a finger chuck 13 of a feed pipe 12 is conveyed through pulleys 6 and 7, a V-belt 8, a sprocket 9, and a feed chain 11 through drive of a feed motor 5, and a displacement amount is detected by a rotary encoder 20. A microcomputer 22 compares a displacement amount detecting signal, inputted through an input device 21, with a preset set value from a key board 35 to compute an amount of the bars 14 conveyed. The result is displayed on a display means 34, and when a conveyance amount is increased to a set value, a signal is fed to cutter 18, and a given machining work is effected between a chuck 19 and a stopper. This constitution enables complete automation of a bar feed device.
