Abstract
PURPOSE:To make an insulating container compact and to prevent a penetration breaking during the conditioning process by forming the insulating container with a specific material in a tube form of an even thickness, and making the surface length larger than the interval length between sealing metals of the tube. CONSTITUTION:An insulating container is made of alumina as the main composition material and formed in the slurry casting method in the even thickness including no bubble. The insulating container is made into a tube form with the cross section either a circular, oval, polygonal, square, or rectangular form, and the outer diameters of the both ends 1a and 1b are made larger than the diameters of sealing metals 6a and 6b respectively. The tube wall of the insulating container is formed with the vertical section in a curve of wave-form folds, for example, and the surface length l is made larger than the interval length L between the sealing metals 6a and 6b. In such a composition, the insulating container can be made compact while keeping the interval between an intermediate shield 3 and the electrodes 5a and 5b at a desired distance, and moreover, a penetration breaking from an external flashover can be prevented.
