Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable formation of a detergent compsn. having a combination of low skin irritation with high detergency and high hard water resistance, which comprises a particular N-acyl-N-hydroxyalkyl-beta-alanine as a base. CONSTITUTION:A detergent compsn. comprises at least one N-acyl-N- hydroxyalkyl-beta-alanine of formula I (wherein RCO is an 8-18C satd. or unsatd. fatty acid residue; X is a 1-4C hydroxyalkyl group) or its salt. Examples of the salt include alkali metal, alkali earth metal, ammonium, alkanolamine, alkyl-substd. ammonium, and basic amino acid salts.
