Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a highly functional polymeric compound, by treating a polymeric compound containing a specific linkage in the molecule with a silicon hydride compound. CONSTITUTION:A polymeric compound containing at least one linkage selected form the group comprising C=C, CidenticalC, C=O, C=N, N=C=O, CidenticalN, C-Cl, a linkage of formula I, O-H and N-H is treated with a silicon hydride compound of formula II (wherein n is 1-4) to produce the aimed modified polymer. Any of the above linkages can undergo addition reaction with the silicon hydride compound, and this reaction enables a silyl group having an Si-H linkage or the other group to be easily introduced into this polymeric compound. As the polymeric compound, a polyacrylate (formula III), a polycyanoacrylate (formula IV), a polyvinyl chloride (formula V), a urea resin (formula VI), a furan resin (formula VII) and the like can be exemplified.
