Abstract

PURPOSE:To supply a suitable amount of water content to a plate surface without staining the plate surface, by a method wherein a moistened air is atomized to the plate surface of an offset printing press to apply a required water content to the plate surface. CONSTITUTION:A moistened air (a) is forcedly carried to a plate surface 3 of an offset printing press from the tip end part of a nozzle 71 of a moistening mechanism 7 with an air flow (b) fed from a blast mechanism 9. The moistened air (a) is atomized to the plate surface 3 with a predetermined distance spaced to apply a required water content to the plate surface 3. At this time, the excess moistened air (a) and carrying air flow (b) after atomizing are sucked to a recovery filter device 8 through a return port (c) of the moistening mechanism 7, and recovered after being separated into air and water.
