Abstract
PURPOSE:To carry out reaction in the presence of an acid having a specific range of pKa in reacting vinyl chloride with CO and H2 in the in the presence of an Rh compound and trivalent organic phosphorus compound or oxide thereof to provide the titled compound. CONSTITUTION:Vinyl chloride is reacted with CO and H2 in the presence of an Rh compound (e.g. rhodium oxide) and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound (e.g. trimethylphosphine) or oxide thereof to provide the titled compound. In the process, the reaction is carried out in the coexistence of an acid having a pKa within the range of 0.5-5 to afford the aimed substance in high selectivity at a low temperature under a low pressure. Since high activity can be maintained for a long period without accumulation of by-products, loss of Rh can be reduced without requiring frequent practice of regenerating operation. The titled substance is useful as an intermediate for chemicals and agricultural chemicals, medicines, etc.
