Abstract
Description
Claims (9)
- 제1 및 제2전극기판과, 네마틱 액정분자가 각 기판에 대해로 비툴어짐 없이 거의 평행으로 배열되고 상기 제1 및 제2전극기판 사이에 유지되는 액정층, 이 액정층과는 반대측에서 상기 제1 및 제2전극기판상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2광학이방소자, 이 제1 및 제2광학이방소자 상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2의 1/2파장판 및, 이 제1 및 제2의 1/2파장판 상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2편광판을 구비하고, 상기 제1전극기판이 제1편광판측으로부터 입사하는 백라이트광을 투과하는 광투과부 및 상기 제2편광판측으로부터 입사하는 주위광을 반사하는 광반사부를 포함하고, 상기 제1 및 제2광학이방소자 중 적어도 한쪽이 면내에 위상차를 갖는 2매의 위상차판으로 이루어진 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 2매의 위상차판의 적어도 한쪽이 액정필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 액정필름이, 액정분자의 광축이 상기 액정층의 액정분자 배열과 거의 동일 평면에서 두께 방향의 위치에 의존해서 연속적 또는 단계적으로 경사진 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 액정표시소자.
- 제2항 또는 제3항에 있어서, 상기 액정필름이, 네마틱액정 및 스멕틱액정의어느 하나를 배향 고체화한 것임을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 2매의 위상차판의 한쪽이 액정분자의 광축이 두께 방향의 위치에 의존해서 연속적 혹은 단계적으로 경사진 구조의 액정필름이고, 상기 2매의 위상차판의 다른쪽이 상기 액정필름 및 상기 액정층 사이에 배치되는 1축성위상차판인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제5항에 있어서, 상기 1축성위상차판이 액정필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액정층의 액정분자가 호모지니어스 배향을 하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1 및 제2전극기판과, 네마틱 액정분자가 각 기판에 대해 비툴어짐 없이 거의 평행으로 배열되고 상기 제1 및 제2전극기판 사이에 유지되는 액정층, 이 액정층과는 반대측에서 상기 제1 및 제2전극기판 상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2광학이방소자, 이 제1 및 제2광학이방소자 상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2의 1/2파장판 및, 이 제1 및 제2의 1/2파장판 상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2편광판을 구비하고, 상기 제1전극기판이 제1편광판측으로부터 입사하는 백라이트광을 투과하는 광투과부 및 상기 제2편광판측으로부터 입사하는 주위광을 반사하는 광반사부를 포함하고, 상기 제1 및 제2광학이방소자 중 적어도 한쪽이 면내에 위상차를 갖는 3매의 위상차판으로 이루어지고, 이 3매의 위상차판의 적어도 1매는 액정분자의 광축이 두께방향의 위치에 의존해서 연속적 또는 단계적으로 경사진 구조의 네마틱 액정필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1 및 제2전극기판과, 네마틱 액정분자가 각 기판에 대해 거의 수직으로 배열되고 상기 제1 및 제2전극기판 사이에 유지되는 액정층, 이 액정층과는 반대측에서 상기 제1 및 제2전극기판상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2광학이방소자, 이 제1 및 제2광학이방소자 상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2의 1/2파장판 및, 이 제1 및 제2의 1/2파장판 상에 각각 배치되는 제1 및 제2편광판을 구비하고, 상기 제1전극기판이 제1편광판측으로부터 입사하는 백라이트광을 투과하는 광투과부 및 상기 제2편광판측으로부터 입사하는 주위광을 반사하는 광반사부를 포함하고, 상기 제1 및 제2광학이방소자 중 적어도 한쪽이 복수의 위상차 필름으로 구성되고, 상기 복수의 위상차 필름은 디스코틱 액정분자가 광축을 따라 정렬해서 두께 방향으로 배열된 구조의 액정필름을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
