Abstract

La invención proporciona métodos fermentativos para producir n-propanol. Los métodos de la invención implican proporcionar una fuente de carbono adecuada, un microorganismo que expresa la secuencia de ácido dicarboxílico, equivalentes reductores, y al menos un gen que codifica para una enzima que cataliza la conversión de propionato/propioniloCoA en n-propanol. Los métodos además implican poner en contacto la fuente de carbono y equivalentes reductores con el microorganismo bajo condiciones favorables para la producción de n-propanol. También son proporcionados métodos para producir propileno y polipropileno del n-propanol y microorganismos adecuados para uso en los métodos de la invención.
