Abstract
The invention relates to a water purifier that is placed inside water tanks for human use in domestic, rural, commercial or institutional installations. The device removes micro-organisms and other pathogenic biological agents, using colloidal silver supported on controlled-porosity ceramic spheres contained in a plastic housing compatible with human consumption water. The device consists of an assembly of parts or sections taking the form of a cage and housing ceramic spheres impregnated with colloidal silver, and an upper part providing buoyancy. The assembly maintains the spheres permanently submerged and in contact with the water. The number of sections containing spheres can be increased for tanks of larger capacity. Some of the spheres impregnated with colloidal silver can be replaced with spheres subjected to other treatments, such as activated carbon, zeolites, ion exchange resins, sustained release disinfectants or metal spheres (copper and zinc), in order to remove other spe cific impurities from the water source. The system does not require electric or pumping energy. The structure of the housing cages allows the free circulation of water and prevents contact or impacts between spheres, extending the useful life thereof. The resulting treated water is suitable for human consumption and the operation of the system requires neither electrical energy nor pumping. The plastics used to construct the assembly are compatible with water for human use, are stable during long-term immersion and can include pigments to protect same against solar radiation or to identify cages that contain different types of spheres.
