Abstract

Se describe un proceso para la preparación de cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-buteno; el proceso comprende poner 1,1,1-trifluorotricloroetano en contacto con hidrógeno en presencia de un catalizador que comprende rutenio para producir una mezcla de productos que comprende 1316mxx, recuperar el 1316mxx como una mezcla de isómeros Z y E, poner el 1316mxx en contacto con hidrógeno, en presencia de un catalizador seleccionado del grupo que consiste en cobre sobre carbono, níquel sobre carbono, cobre y níquel sobre carbono y cobre y paladio sobre carbono, para producir una segunda mezcla de productos, que comprende E- o Z-CFC-1326mxz, y someter la segunda mezcla de productos a una etapa de separación para proporcionar E- o Z-1326mxz. El isómero E o Z-1326mxz puede someterse a deshidrocloración en una solución acuosa básica con un hidróxido de metal alcalino en presencia de un catalizador de transferencia de fase para producir hexafluoro-2-butino, que, después, puede hidrogenarse selectivamente para producir Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-buteno con el uso de catalizador de Lindlar, o un catalizador de paladio que comprende, además, un elemento de lantánido o plata.
