Abstract
Un procedimiento para la producción de un adsorbente adecuado para su empleo en la purificación de aceites comestibles, tal como el aceite de soya, que comprende tratar un mineral de arcilla en capas con una solución de un material soportador, tal como un catión adecuado de aluminio, para así causar la adsorción de al menos algo del material soportador en el mineral de arcilla y remover el solvente para depositar el material soportador dentro del mineral de arcilla. El procedimiento se caracteriza por la remoción de al menos algo del aluminio estructural del mineral de arcilla por el tratamiento con ácido, antes del contacto con el material soportador. El material soportador resultante, el cual puede tener una relación mayor de SiO2: Al2O3 que la normal, como resultado del tratamiento inicial de ácido, puede dar una capacidad de adsorción de clorofila arriba del 70 y, en algunos casos, aún de hasta el 99 , aproximadamente.
