Abstract
En un proceso para la produccion de un ácido dicarboxilo aromático tal comoácido tereftálico mediante oxidacion en fase líquida de un precursor (por ejemplo, p-xileno) del mismo, una corriente (10) saliente de la parte alta, que comprendeácido carbixílico alifático acuoso, se sujeta a destilacion azeotropica en la columna (12), para reducir el contenido de agua. La destilacion azetropica puede ser llevada a cabo utilizando reflujo del agente separador unicamente (22) con el control de la penetracion del agente separador, para obtener un producto residual (34) el cual está substancialmente libre de agente separador, y contiene una cantidad predeterminada de agua residual. Cualquier precursor de ácido dicarboxilo aromático, presente en la corriente saliente de la parte alta, es separado delácido carboxílico alifático mediante el retiro en un sitio (24) en la cercanía del punto de introduccion de la alimentacion (10) dentro de la columna. La cantidad de agua en el producto residual (34) puede ser controlada mediante la regulacion de una alimentacion de agua separada (76) hacia la seccion inferior de la columna de destilacion azeotropica. Además, la regulacion de velocidad de reflujo (vía la linea 22) puede ser empleada para controlar el contenido de agua del producto residual y mantener la operacion de la columna en le caso de pérdida de alimentacion hacia la columna.
