A METHOD OF RECOVERING AN AMINO ACID USING A CATION EXCHANGE RESIN, WHICH COMPRISES BRINGING A SOLUTION OF AMINO ACID CONTAINING IMPURITIES INTO CONTACT WITH THE CATION EXCHANGE RESIN TO ABSORB THE AMINO ACID SELECTIVELY ON THE RESIN, THUS ELUTING THE ABSORBED AMINO ACID, AND RECOVERING THE AMINO ACID ELUTED, WHEREIN AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF A MIXTURE OF UREA AND AN IONICALLY DISSOCIABLE SUBSTANCE IS USED AS AN ELUENT IN THE ELUTING STEP.
