Abstract

A washing machine is provided that is capable of improving dirt removal from laundry articles by making simple improvement on a door for opening and closing a supply port for the laundry articles. The washing machine includes a washing tub (2) supported inside an outer housing (1), a rotary drum (3) rotating coaxially inside the washing tub (2), and a door (5) for opening and closing a supply port (10) provided on the outer housing (1). Projections (54) are provided to be protruded toward the inside of the rotary drum (3) on the outer surface of a bottom plate (50a) of a door body (50) facing to the inside of the rotary drum (3) when the door (5) is closed. While the lifted laundry articles inside the rotary drum (3) are falling down, frictional resistance is added to the laundry articles as they are slid into contact with the projections (54). (Fig.2)
