Abstract

A floor drain (100) comprising a drain base (101) having an opening (103) and a recessed ledge (105) surrounding the opening (103), a housing (107) in fluid communication with the opening (103) having an open upper end (109). a capped lower end (111). a sidewall (113) extending from the capped lower end (111) the open upper end (109) which includes a first through pipe section (125) laterally extending away from the housing (107) defining the outlet for draining liquid received through the drain base out of the housing (107), and a removable trap assembly (115) which corresponds to, is in fluid communication with and is receivable through the opening (103) of the drain base (101) and the open upper end (109) of the housing (107). The removable trap assembly comprising a flanged bowl (119) corresponding to the recessed ledge (105) surrounding the opening (103) of the drain base (10l). that has an outer wall (119a). a central annular opening on the base of the flanged bowl surrounded by an upward extending inner wall (119b) which defines a fluid passageway (119d), and a bell-shaped structure (121) capable of being coupled to the flanged bowl, having a sidewall (121 a) with internal and external surfaces. an open end and means within the bell-shaped structure for coupling to the upward extending inner wall (ll9b) of the flanged bowl (119). The flanged bowl (119) and the bell-shaped structure (121) when in coupled state. receives liquid through the drain base (101) which flows into the housing (107) through the fluid passageway (119d) while creating a liquid seal.
