Abstract

An ethanol production facility includes: a shredding apparatus (12) that shreds soft cellulose including starch to produce a shredded material; a saccharification-fermentation apparatus (14) that saccharifies and ferments the shredded material to produce a saccharification-fermentation product by putting an enzyme and yeast in a tank holding the shredded material; a squeezing apparatus (16) that squeezes the saccharification-fermentation product to produce a liquid juice; and a distillation apparatus (18) that distills the liquid juice to extract ethanol. (Fig. 1)
