De utsendte signalene mottas, og strømningshastigheten bestemmes ved hjelp av faseforskyvningen mellom de mottatte, pulsformede signalene, bevirket av fluidets strømning. Faseforskyvning (20) mellom signalene bestemmes mens det kompenseres for oppholdstiden for de pulsformede, oscillerende signalene i fluidet.
