Abstract

Foreliggende oppfinnelse tilveiebringer en fremgangsmåte og apparat for autofokusering av et optisk instrument, spesielt et mikroskop (10). Autofokussystemet inkluderer et di-gitalt gradientfilter for å generere en fokusverdi fra hvert fanget bilde. Bilder kan fanges ved forskjellige po-sisjoner og fokusverdiene analyseres for å bestemme et fo-kusverdimaksimum. Posisjonen tilsvarende dette maksimum tas deretter som fokusposisjonen. Romomfanget av filteret er. fortrinnsvis innstillbart slik at det digitale filter innstillbart velger elementer av bildet avhengig av deres størrelse i bildet. Derved, er filtreringsprosessen kon-trollerbar slik at den påvirkes av elementer av bildet viss størrelse kan være spesifisert av operatøren indirekte ved hjelp av romomfanget av filteret. Dette tillater eksklude-ring av små eller store elementer av bildet fra autofokus-prosedyren som filteret fortrinnsvis bør ignorere. Autofokussystemet er spesielt nyttig for autofokusering av bio-logiske prøver.
