Abstract

Det beskrives fremgangsmåter og innretninger for regulering av aggrecan genekspresjonen i bruskceller via pålegging av felt som genereres av spesifikke og selektive, elektriske og elektiomagnetiske signaler, ved behandling av sykt eller skadet bruskvev. Med genekspresjon menes oppregulering eller nedregulering av prosessen hvorved spesifikke deler (gener) av det humane genom (DNA) tianskriberes til mRNA og deretter tianslateres til protein. Det tilveiebringes metoder og irmretninger for måkettet behandling av skadet eller sykt bruskvev som inkluderer generering av spesifikke og selektive, elektriske og elektiomagnetiske signaler som genererer felt som er optimalisert for aggrecan genekspresjon og eksponering av bruskvevet til felt generert av spesifikke og selektive signaler for å regulere aggrecan genekspresjonen i slikt bruskvev. De resulterende metoder og umretninger er nyttige for målrettet behandling av osteoartritt, reumatoid artritt, bruskskade og bruskdefekter.
